This philosophy guides everything we do at Merlin DPC, from same-day visits and unlimited appointments to direct communication by phone or text and comprehensive services for patients and families.

I went into medicine to take care of people, not to see how many of them I
could fit into a day.
I am a board-certified family medicine physician. I trained at Baylor College
of Medicine and completed my family medicine residency at Baylor in Houston,
along with an internship in general surgery. I grew up in Laredo, my family’s
roots run from Mexico City to San Antonio, and my wife and I moved here to
build a practice worth staying at.
Merlin is the practice I wanted to be a patient in. Appointments that last
thirty to sixty minutes. My phone number, not a call center. One price, and
you know it before you walk in.
Outside the office I run, play tennis, paint, play guitar, and spend as
much time with my family as I can manage.
If you want to know whether this is the right fit, the fastest way to find out
is to come meet me. It takes anywhere from ten to thirty minutes and it costs nothing.
Our Philosophy
At Merlin Direct Primary Care, we believe:
- Healthcare should always put the patient first.
- Medical care is not one-size-fits-all; each patient’s goals and needs are unique.
- Doctors should have time to understand patients beyond their symptoms.
- Appointments should never feel rushed or limited by the clock.
- Primary care should improve health and lives, not just manage visits.
