Our Mission

At Merlin Direct Primary Care, our mission is simple: to make primary care convenient, thorough, and truly centered on you. As a full-scope family physician in San Antonio, I believe healthcare should focus on your goals, your concerns, and your well-being—not rushed appointments or administrative hurdles.

Dr. Ramon Diez-Barroso, MD

Founder, Merlin Direct Primary Care

Dr. Ramon Diez-Barroso is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with a passion for delivering personalized, accessible, and comprehensive primary care. He founded Merlin Direct Primary Care with one goal: to offer simply better care—where your time, your health, and your peace of mind come first.

A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Diez-Barroso brings a broad and well-rounded clinical background to his practice, having completed training in Family Residency in addition to a General Surgery internship. His diverse experience, including time in surgical training, private wealth management, real estate development, and healthcare entrepreneurship, has shaped his belief that truly great medical care should be efficient, thoughtful, and human.

Dr. Diez-Barroso grew up in Laredo and has roots all the way from Mexico City to San Antonio. After completing his Family Medicine residency In Houston at Baylor College of Medicine, he and his wife moved to San Antonio to return to the community that has nurtured them. They are happy to bring medical care to this community where they will be growing their family.

At Merlin DPC, Dr. Diez Barroso is proud to provide care that goes beyond the rushed and fragmented experiences of the traditional system. Patients have direct access to him, unhurried appointments, and a trusted physician who knows them well.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Diez-Barroso serves a diverse community and welcomes patients from all walks of life. Outside the clinic, he enjoys running, tennis, painting, playing guitar, and spending time with family.

Through Direct Primary Care (DPC), we make that possible. For a straightforward annual membership, patients enjoy comprehensive services, including routine labs, preventive care, and office procedures.

This model allows me to build lasting relationships with my patients, understand their medical history deeply, and provide truly personalized guidance on wellness, prevention, and treatment.
